With pure emphasis on aesthetics rather than the mechanics of running such a setup or even the perils of tyre wear or legality.

To me, I don't really care either way, I actually like Hellaflush and I believe cars can be an artform in them self. Its not necessarily 'fake' or 'wrong' as what some people would call it, it's just not what some average tuners think what tuning is.

I think what a lot of people don't understand is that tuning is subjective just like any other hobby, art form or personal outlet of expression as some people say in the tuning world "Your car is an extension of your personality".

After reading Charles Kha's article in Issue #85 of Autosalon Magazine, I've properly recognised how absolutely bullshit and critical tuners and car admirer's are towards one another, be it in or out of JDM culture, you'll see it across Show Car Builders, Hot Rodders, Muscle Lovers, Vintage and Nostalgic Fans- the list goes on, when at the end of the day It's better to admire and welcome.

E.g 'Hellaflush', Try to admire the fact that the guy is rocking Workmeisters rather than whining about the impractical camber. As much as I hate Sex-Spec I can still admire the workmanship in aesthetics, time and effort, even if each rim ends up adding 10kgs to a car wielding a blinding pink paint job. Although I don't favour this style, I will attempt to emote a sense of appreciation but more importantly, try to accept rather than merely tolerate.

Cultures, sub cultures and memes such as 'Hellaflush' should be welcomed to our overall car loving community- rather than flame and ousted on a fundamental basis of dislike due to one's personal disapproval. Hey I'll even be the first person to put my hand up and admit I'm guilty of it too, but I'm now making the effort to see the greater picture in hindsight and change my judgment.

Regardless of content, it's our enthusiast context that matters and I believe that the sooner car enthusiasts (we) adopt these qualities the sooner we can be on track to a greater, better, more accepting global passion that can expand upon. Who knows maybe someone will discover a style or method better (god forbid) than 'JDM styled tuning', but If we keep excluding others in what they're bringing to the table then we're inhibiting evolving a possibility of outlets, when you consider the variety of misconceptions against car enthusiasts as portrayed by the media or naive individuals, it's safe to say that we don't need anyone else against us, or their stereotypes, yet here we are going against one another on various other levels, for shallow reasons at that.

As Charles' column writes, "Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but an opinion doesn't entitle us to turn on our own kind".

Just something to think about, drop a comment in the box. These are purely my views compounded with views of others that share the same thoughts. 'LFO+Flanger+Phase', you can only imagine what those sort of combo's sound like, my favorite thus far is the 'Beat Repeat'.

I think my only qualms with the unit are that I'd prefer larger EQ knobs but thats just personal preference, PFL for the 'Kaoss Pad' would be great too, as it would let you experiment with it without disrupting what your playing.

I highly recommend this as a DJM-400 alternative, aside from a few minor things and they really are minor- I'm loving this new device.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jdmanddjm.blogspot.com/2010/05/new-mixer-km-202.html' title='New Mixer! Tracks from the likes of 'Snap!', 'RealMccoy' and 'Urban Cookie Collective'- I gotta admit, it was refreshingly nostalgic.

With litres of beer readily available, saying it was a good night, was an understatment. After listening to this track and watching it climb the Hypem ranks I knew a remix would come soon, I didn't know when, but I knew it was pending...

Then BAM! - Woke one morning this week, in my routinely morning Hypem scan, to find that 'LightsoverLA' had injected a club friendlier atmosphere to the track, and to my delight without disturbing it's original vibe. This little treat will definitely be sitting in my next setlist.

Savour It:

Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know
(Right Click, Save Link As)

Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know (LightsoverLA Club Remix)
(Right Click, Save Link As)

Ps. I like 'Dubstep', certainty not as much as House or Electro, but I'm getting there with it. It's paced rhythm and sonic bass gaps specifically pockets it into it's own genre, differing so much from mainstream structure.

Here's a taste of 'Dubstep' from Enigma with a remix of 'Imogen Heap's 'Hide and Seek' - which you might recognise from Jason Derulo's - 'Whatcha Say' currently on the charts. I can't stop listening to this track, had it on in the car all weekend, it's flowing in it's genre specific pulses yet chilling at the same time, if this is what 'dubstep' has to offer then I'm liking it.

Dub it here: Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (Enigma Remix)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jdmanddjm.blogspot.com/2010/02/whatcha-say-dub.html' title='"Whatcha Say?"... I first found Deadmau5 about a year and a 1/2 ago, heard a snippet of his remix of Morgan Page's 'Longest Road' and really liked the melodic build up of layers and breakdowns, a key feature of the 'Progressive House' genre, which I know now but didn't then. Soon after I did a bit of searching I had tracks like 'Slip' and 'Brazil', both amazing examples of his work- True pieces of 'Progressive House' in it's purest definition, shortly there after buying 'Random Album Title' and eventually 'Lack Of A Better Name' upon it's release.

Towards the end of 2009 I grabbed myself a 'Stereosonic' ticket, which in my honest opinion was a big let down and certainly not what it could've been due to poor organisation by the event managers and lack of ability to facilitate numbers- Then that night, 10pm hit and for the first time ever, I saw that big blue mouse head of his- bopping behind his laptop to 'FML' at the very beginning of his set, mixing and cutting to 'You Need A Ladder'. To me, he made 'Stereosonic' worth it. That week I knew he was still in Sydney, so I grabbed x2 Tickets to his last show before leaving Sydney at the 'Metro' on George St.

The afternoon, hours before the 'Metro' show, Deadmau5 did a suprise appearance at Virgin Megastore in the City, it was amazing to be up close whilst he worked his 'Ableton' magic wielding his full headset, grinning from big ear to ear. Luckily I was able to get my album signed as well as a poster I snatched off the wall straight after the brief gig.

Live @ Virgin Megastore, George St.

No Mau5head.

Signing my stuff :D

That night 'Metro' went off the minute he walked out, it was 'Stereosonic' all over again, except only better and this time for 2 solid hours! Danger- the moniker of Franck Rivoire, an electro producer from Lyon, France. His influences stem both from video game music and 80s soundtracks, his aim in his productions is to paint pictures of particular settings and time periods via his music. I really dig the album art, the logo screams Daft Punk, whilst the image touches upon the nostalgic setting of 'Thriller' in my opinion (maybe it's the red jacket?). Danger also masks himself following in trend of various other artists such as 'The Bloody Beetroots' & 'Deadmau5'. Sinister electro?- enjoy...

80's Darkness!: Danger- 4H30
(Right Click, Save Link As)

Transcendant!: Danger- 88:88
(Mediafire)

6 hours and 715km's later.

Chillin' at Lake Burley Griffin.

So a few days ago i went on a day trip down to canberra- the nation's roundabout, and when i say that i mean it considering theres FA all to do there, the main reason why I only ever wanted to go there as a kid was to buy fireworks and now they've been banned as of mid 09' it kinda killed the intrest in going. I prefer this version to "Let The Bass Kick In Miami" which im sure you've bound to have heard in clubs or radio way too much.
